SENEGAL: Raysimaş, Uroven and Latronix have completed track geometry measurements for Dakar Train Express Régional construction contractor Yapı Merkezi using an OWLS measuring system fitted to a 1960s locomotive.

Developed by Latronix in Sweden and distributed overseas by UK company Uroven, OWLS uses a combination of optical sensors, accelerometers and gyroscopes to provide highly accurate measurements of gauge, horizontal alignment, vertical alignment, cant and twist in accordance with EN13848 and EN13121 standards.

Installation on the locomotive and calibration was completed in 3 h, and the device was able to produce extremely accurate measurements with reproducibility figures ‘significantly better’ than stipulated in EN13848-2 for track recording vehicles.
