At 11:00 a.m. on August 28, the last set of rails on Heshuikou Station-Shutianpu Station Section of Shenzhen Metro Line 6 were laid in place, marking the successful completion of track laying on this double-track line in the Package B of Shenzhen Metro Line 6 (Phase I) undertaken by Shanghai Civil Engineering Co., Ltd. of CREC.

Shenzhen Metro Line 6 (Phase I) is about 37.626 km long. The double-track line which saw its track-laying completion starts from Guanguang Station and ends at Songgang Station, with a total of 12 stations and 11 sections. The single-track laying length is about 34.728 km. It is presented as the first pilot project in China applying new technologies such as green assembled ballastless track technology, assembled vibration damping track technology, and information-based track zone management.

During construction, new materials and equipment have been widely applied, such as self-compacting concrete, HSR ballastless track slab accurate adjustment frame, new-energy rail cars, etc., ensuring the accuracy and quality of track construction and achieving environmental protection, energy conservation and emission reduction. At the same time, the project crew has participated in extensive activities to make in-depth research on new technologies and methods. Nearly 1,000 construction workers and more than 100 sets of machinery equipment were deployed and coordinated to optimize on-site construction, fulfilling the construction task in a safe, quality and efficient manner.

It is reported that Shenzhen Metro Line 6 (Phase I) is planned to open for initial operation in 2020, which will bring positive impacts on the economic growth along the line, the integration process of the demonstration zone for socialism with Chinese characteristics, and traffic layout of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
