Elected as the Vice Chairman of International Union of Railways (UIC), Mr. Ali İhsan UYGUN, Director General of TCDD also took over the Presidency of UIC-RAME (Regional Assembly for Middle East) this time.
23rd RAME Meeting was held on 5-6 July 2019, in Aqaba, Jordan, hosted by ARC-Aqaba Railway Company.

Mr. Ali İhsan UYGUN, Director General of TCDD, was elected “unanimously” as the RAME Chairman for the period of 2019-2020.

Director General of TCDD, as well as Directors General of other railway companies in the region i.e. RAI (Iran Railway Administration), ARC (Aqaba Railway Company), JHR (Jordan Hejaz Railways), SHR (Syria Hejaz Railways) and MDA (Maan Development Company) and Mr. Jean Pierre Loubinoux, Honorary Director General of UIC; Mr. François Davenne, new Director General of UIC; Mr. Jerzy Wisniewski, Regional Coordinator and UIC RAME Office representatives participated in the meeting. 

Agenda items such as evaluating the activities to be realised in the second half of 2019, discussing the 2019/20 RAME Action Plan and 2040 Vision, introducing the “Global Vision of Railway Developments” updated in June 2019, financial issues and budget of Middle East Region, recent news from the RAME Member countries were discussed during the meeting. Moreover, it was highlighted that UIC Middle East Railway Training Center (MERTCe), located in Ankara and performing railway training activities under TCDD, would realise activities that would meet the specific training needs of the members in the region.
