Railway authorities have devoted all efforts to maintain and operate the China-Laos Railway since December 3, 2021, when it entered into service to build the China-Laos Railway into a road of development, happiness, and friendship for the two peoples. As of May 23, the number of passenger trips made by the China-Laos Railway hit 16 million, over 20 thousand of which are cross-border trips.

The Fuxing Multiple Unit Trains and Lancang Multiple Unit Trains that shortened the time and distance of travel are favored by people along the route because they are safe, eco-friendly, fast, and comfortable. As a result of railway authorities’ scientific analysis of passenger flow and accurate allocation of transport capacity, the domestic section has 42 trains on average in operation every day, with a maximum of 72 trains daily, making 13.53 million passenger trips in total since the railway was put into use.

To satisfy the need for cross-border travel and sightseeing of the two people, on April 13 this year, international passenger trains between Kunmingnan Railway Station and Vientiane Station on the China-Laos Railway in both directions began to operate, with the joint effort of China and Laos, so the trip from Kunming to Vientiane is shortened to within a day and vice versa. During the May Day holiday this year, over 90,000 passenger trips were made on the China-Laos Railway in a single day, a record high since it entered into service. In the past month or so, the international passenger trains have carried more than 20,000 cross-border passengers from 28 countries, facilitating efficient exchanges of passenger flows, logistics flows, and information flows along the routes and promoting the high-quality development of the regional economy.
