At 8:54 am on December 2, the first trial operation of a high speed train on the newly constructed Fangchenggang-Dongxing Railway departed from Fangchenggangbei Railway Station, bound for Dongxingshi Railway Station. This marks the official commencement of the comprehensive trial operation for the railway, bringing the full opening of the entire line into the final countdown. During the comprehensive trial operation period, Fangchenggang-Dongxing Railway will schedule 12 high speed train round trips daily. Once officially in operation, CR-Nanning will adjust the train operation plan based on passenger travel needs.

The Fangchenggang-Dongxing Railway originates from the southern end of the Qinzhou-Fangchenggang Railway at Fangchenggangbei Railway Station, extending southwest to Dongxingshi Railway Station. The total length is 47 kilometers, with a designed speed of 200 kilometers per hour and infrastructure provision for a speed of up to 250 kilometers per hour. It is a key project in China’s efforts to promote the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, connecting domestic and international transportation. Additionally, it represents the first railway connection to Dongxing City, the only port city in China connected by both sea and land to Vietnam.

Once in operation, the Fangchenggang-Dongxing Railway will put an end to the historical lack of railway transportation between Fangchenggang and Dongxing. The travel time between the two cities will be reduced from the current approximately 60 minutes by road to about 20 minutes by railway. High speed trains departing from Nanning, the capital of Guangxi, will reach the border city of Dongxing in approximately 70 minutes, providing robust transportation support for the construction of an international gateway to ASEAN for Guangxi.
