On December 30, Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR
(including Chongli Railway) was officially put into operation. The debut of the
first intelligent EMU on this HSR attracted attention of people from all walks
of life and brought a unique travel experience to the passengers.
Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR runs from Beijing
North Station to Zhangjiakou Station. It passes through Beijing and Hebei
Province. Its main line has 10 stations, including Beijing North, Qinghe,
Shahe, Changping, Badaling Great Wall, Donghuayuan North, Huailai, Xiahuayuan
North, Xuanhua North and Zhangjiakou. Yanqing Station is set for Yanqing Branch
Line and Taizicheng Station is set for Chongli Railway. Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR
is 173.96km long totally.
It is an important part of Beijing-Lanzhou
Corridor in the HSR network composed of "eight north-south lines and eight
east-west lines" specified in China's Medium- and Long-term Railway
Network Plan. The HSR is connected to Zhangjiakou-Hohhot HSR and
Zhangjiakou-Datong HSR in the west, both of which were put into operation on
the same day. It is connected to Beijing Terminal in the east, providing a fast
passenger transport corridor between eastern Inner Mongolia, northern Shanxi,
northern Hebei and Beijing.
At 8:30 on this day, train G8811 departed
from Beijing North Station on schedule, heading for Taizicheng, as the first
train running on Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR. The outstanding feature of this
Fuxing CR400BF-C EMU is "intelligent", including intelligent train
operation, intelligent service, and intelligent operation and maintenance.
The CR400BF-C intelligent EMU is the
world's first train running at a speed up to 350km/h in commercial automatic
operation with a driver onboard. The CTCS-3 + ATO technology enables a series
of operations such as automatic departure from stations, automatic in-section
operation, automatic stopping at stations, automatic opening of doors, and linkage
control of train doors and platform doors. The train has an automatic speed
control precision within 2km/h and a stopping precision within 0.5m.
The intelligent automatic operation of the
CR400BF-C intelligent EMU also includes the environment perception +
decision-making function. The automatic operation system collects and processes
environmental information (such as geographic location and route information)
and vehicle status with the devices including on-board sensor, radar and
antenna, and combines them with the EMU status. At the same time, it presets
the algorithm for the purpose of safety, stability and comfort, and makes
decisions in light of speed limit requirements and so on. The automatic
operation of CR400BF-C intelligent EMU is not the operation just at preset time
and speed. On the contrary, it simulates thinking of a human driver according
to the actual conditions and adjusts operation at any time, so it is truly
intelligent.
Different from the previous EMU versions,
the CR400BF-C intelligent EMU is the first high speed train tailored to a line
in China. From the exterior and interior, we can see some special designs for
Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR. Its attentiveness enhances travel experience here and
there.
In addition to the optimized train head,
the CR400BF-C intelligent EMU is equipped with the cold-proof technology
suitable for the -40°C operation environment. The performance of traction and
braking systems are improved to meet the requirements of starting and safe
stopping at 30‰ grade to enable the train to run in mountainous areas. In
particular, the new power battery system can drive the train to travel 20km at
a speed of 30km/h in case of a power supply failure of the OCS, and so the
train is able to move to the nearest station in case of a power supply failure
in any section of Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR. Now passengers no longer need to
worry about being stuck halfway in the train due to OCS failure.
In terms of the interior, in addition to
the intelligent environment adjustment and intelligent information exchange
systems mentioned above, in order to improve the riding experience, the
business-class seats of CR400BF-C intelligent EMU are designed to be more
aesthetic and ergonomic, and so more comfortable.
In 1909, Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, the
first railway independently built by China, was completed. It starts from
Beijing, and passes through Badaling to Zhangjiakou in Hebei Province. In order
to enable trains to climb up the steep hillside, Zhan Tianyou, the chief
engineer, designed a herringbone turn-round track along the mountain. This is
an innovation in the Chinese railway history.
110 years later, trains run underground
from Qinglongqiao Station near Badaling Great Wall. In the long course of
history, the new and old Beijing-Zhangjiakou railways "meet together"
in the Winter Olympics Era.
In the future, with the continuous
development of Chinese HSRs, undoubtedly more progress will be made in
intelligent high speed EMUs.
